We had such a great Christmas this year. Especially with Rachel celebrating her first Christmas. Still seems odd to me that I am married and have two little girls. Hannah was so excited this year when she woke up at about 8am to notice the tree lights were on and that "Santa" had arrived with presents. She had woken up at 2am, 4am and then I decided that Santa better get in gear and get those presents under the tree or I would fall back to sleep again. So, just as I got Hannah back to sleep Rachel woke up. This is very common these days...what is going to happen when Baby #3 comes? So, I woke Mike up and told him I had to get the presents under the tree so he needed to watch Rachel. I finally finished and went back to the bedroom and Rachel was still awake. So her and I came back out to the living room and fell asleep on the couch.
At 7:30am, I woke up realizing Hannah wasn't awake yet and that I should go back to my bed so that when she wakes up she can tell us Santa came. Well she did and it was so funny. It was just about 15 mintues later that she woke up and I heard her feet pitter patter out her door. She looked down the hall and then ran to my room screaming. "Dad, Mom, ...Santa came, Santa came, He really did there are presents under the tree." Mike said, "Oh Hannah, Santa didn't come just come in here and lay down with us". She said so seriously "No, Dad he really did come there are presents under the tree!" "You need to come now and look. I am very serious!" So we all got up and Hannah waited patiently as Daddy had to get some coffee and take care of the dog.
We each took a turn at opening a present and then at the end Hannah had about 5 more presents than Rachel, uh oh, I'll have to do better next year. Anyway, we had fun and Mike and the girls played all day with the new toys.
Another special event is that Rachel started crawling, well scooting on Christmas day. So needless to say the tree was taken down the very next day. She is into everything and she gets where she wants to go really fast. I'm going to try and video her today and post it on facebook. It cracks me up how she crawls.
So, all is said and done with Christmas of 08. We got to spend alot of time with the whole family and this morning Mike is back to work. Hannah is down at Grandma Donna's for a few days since she has Christmas break from school. So, it me and Rach today. Mike's birthday is Wednesday so Hannah is going to help me decorate the house up and make a cake.
Rach is waking up now so gotta go.

Verse #6
Philippians 2:14 Do everything without arguing and complaining.
I saw this on a website and boy it hit home. Especially since I found out I was pregnant this past Thursday evening. Along witht the shock of it I've been moody. Lord help me to not argue or complain and help me to teach this to the girls.

Hannah's First Recital
How fun! Gosh I love having girls and doing these girly dancing things. Hannah had her first ballet dance recital for a Christmas Charity. We had to find her some Christmas pajamas which took me forever. But we found some darn cute ones at Meijer's.
Anyway, the whole day before the recital I was so stinkin anxious for her. Everytime I saw her practice this song in class she just wasn't paying attention doing what she was supposed to do whenever she remembered she was in dance class. In her class they have a whole wall that is all mirror. So during class all the little girls, including my Hannah, looks at themselves and sometimes gets so involved looking at themself that they start to drift off to la la land.
So on with the story, that morning I searched the internet for this song she was going to dance to to see if she really knew what she was doing. I finally found the song and made her practice once for me. Well this made me even more nervous after she danced for me. But she is just so darn cute that it didn't really matter.
So the night of the show came and Grandma Donna, Papa Bill, Grandma Marlene, Grandpa Hal, our neighbors, Kay, Reed and Her best friend Olivia all came to see her. I stayed backstage because of my stage fright.
So now it was time to go on stage and we got all the girls lined up. That was crazy. Hannah was getting up on stage and I ran out into the audience, thank goodness there was an empty sit in front of our gang. And her comes Hannah...........O my little Hannah. The first thing she did was have a huge smile on her face like her dream came true. She finally got to be infront of a bunch of people that were going to watch her perform. The next thing Iknow before the music starts is that Hannah is screaming to some lady in the first few rows on the right side (I was clear in the back on the left side) "Mama, Mama, Hi Mama" waving so fast and so excited to see me. The problem was it wasn't me. I wanted her to see me so bad but she thought 100% that this lady was me that she wasn't even looking anywhere else. I just prayed that that lady would wave back. She must have because Hannah finally stopped waving and yelling "Hi MAMA". So the music starts and she did such a great job! I was so proud of her. So, now I'm running back to backstage to find her and I see all the othe little girls except Hannah. My heart starts racing, oh my some one took her. Then I see two little girls in her class looking out this door onto stage. So I peeked in there and there was Hannah searching for me. She must have thought I was going to come up on stage to get her. She was so worried until I called her name and she turned around and saw me.
Oh yea, I have to back up a little, as soon as Hannah finished performing her little friend Olivia was in tears because she couldn't see Hannah on stage. So I grabbed her and told her she could go back with me to pick up Hannah. So once I get Hannah from the side stage door I hug her, tell her how proud I am of her and then I said "look who came to see you perform?" She looked at Olivia and her nervousness was gone but Olivia still had these big tears falling down her face because she was so sad she didn't see her best friend on stage. So Hannah gives her a big hug and rubs her back saying "It's alright Olivia there were just so many people here, you see me know." I cracked up because honestly Hannah words and expressions sound exactly like me. So I finally brought them out to the audience to see the "gang" and to watch the last few performances. What a great night! Such a proud Mama!
We ended the night with a trip to see Fantasy of Lights! That was beautiful. It is in Alum Creek State Park.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I love Thanksgiving! It has always been a relaxing time for my family. Getting together with the whole family is a blast. I am truly blessed to have such a large extended family. It breaks my heart to know that there are so many people who choose not to celebrate with theirs or feels its a burden to have to spend all day at someones house.
Since we moved out of town this is a time we can catch up with the aunts/uncles and all the cousins. Hannah loves all the cousins....well, except she still is really not into the wrestling part. It will be fun to see all the little ones playing together.
Lord...thank you for blessing me with a large extended family. Help me to never take this for granted.
.......Rachel is awake....gotta go for now.....Happy Thanksgiving!

Verse #5
This is a few days early but I had a few minutes and it was on my mind.
Matthew 6:9-15
9"This, then, is how you should pray:" 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.[a]' 14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Just a reminder of this verse from a friend when I was struggling to forgive. Thanks Honey!

Verse #4
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Honestly, I absolutely love my husband. When I read this verse I always think of him. He is very patient, very kind, he doesn't envy or boast. He is not rude or self-seeking, he is not easily angered and he defintely doesn't keep record of wrongs. I love that he respects me, never talks down to me. I am just very thankful that the girls have a wonderful dad.

Shots, shots and more shots
Yikes,
Yesterday was such a crazy day. Rachel had her 6 month appt(weighing in at a big 16.9 lbs and 25 inches long) and she got 4 shots. Oh I hate when they give them shots...it hurts my heart. Well, also Hannah had to get her flu shot but last week the Dr. told me that she could get the mist in her nose instead of a shot so the good mother that I am told Hannah ...."You don't have to get a shot today. Dr. MacDowell said that you can get the mist that goes in your nose" So as soon as we walked in the office Hannah told the nurse proudly "I don't have to get a shot today" she replied "ooh well, maybe" She looked at me and said "we used our last mist this morning". uuuuugggggggghhhhh, now I'm feeling like the good mom. So needless to say Hannah was clueless as to what a shot really felt like at this point. Until......I still can see it in slow motion......The nurse grabs Hannah's thigh, squeezing it, while Hannah is watching her every move not scared at all yet still clueless to the pain that is coming, the nurse starts to put the needle in and Hannah is still talking , and then the needle goes in , Hannah's face was in shock, now tears, now a look at mom with a look of how are you standing there letting me go through this pain, alot of tears are now flowing, the shot is done but the tears aren't. Oh, how horrible I felt....so we made a trip to the DQ.
So lesson learned, don't ever tell you kid they are not getting a shot when you go to the doctors.

Wednesday Wisdom..well a little late
O.K., I need to find another name for Wednesday Wisdom because everytime I read that it makes me think that I telling the world I am the source of wisdom. Which, is far from true. My wisdom comes from God alone. So, help me out here anyone who has a suggestion. Also, I know more people read this than my only one friend Megan from college who is my only, bless her heart, follower. So please take a few minutes to register your name and let me know you are my friend. Also, please feel free to make comments.
Now, on to the verse for this week.
Matthew 7:12 Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
So far these verses that I've chosen aren't hard to understand. But my story to go along with this is that Hannah and I went to Chick Fila the other day and she went to play in the kid area. She was having so much fun until she comes out crying. She was heart broken as said "Mama, this big boy hit me (as she held her arm)........" I interrupted her and said "Well, Hannah was it an accident?". I always ask this because my little dramatic Hannah bless her heart could make it seem like the sky is falling if she drops a piece of paper on the floor. Anyway, story continued.... Hannah replied "Mama, it wasn't an accident he hit me but he didn't even say he was sorry." As more tears flow from her precious little eyes. She was crushed to know that someone could hit her and not say they are sorry. My heart broke for her. As many times as we have pounded in her head that she not only needs to apologize if she hurts someone but she also needs to ask for their forgiveness, and now at age 3 is seeing that everyone doesn't do this. Wow, this is a hard one but something she will have to learn. I think it is very sad that many mothers regardless of if they read the Bible or not don't teach their children this common verse. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
But also when I read this verse I thought about my quick interruption with Hannah and how I don't like to be interrupted when I'm talking so I need to pay more attention and stop interrupting people when they are talking. That is a bad habit of mine.
God help me to be more aware when I begin to interrupt people also help me to continue to guide Hannah as she is learning that some kids are just simply not nice.

Wednesday Wisdom
Phillipians 4:6-7
6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Boy, I need this verse posted in my kitchen. So many things make me anxious. The upcoming election, parenting my girls in the "correct" way, being a good wife, being a good friend, starting a new business....and the list goes on and on.
God, help me to remember that you are waiting on me to give you the control so that you can bless me with your peace.
Gotta go Rachel is waking up from her nap and my oh my she is getting a set of lungs. Not to mention Hannah keeps saying Rachel is awake...mom, Rachel is awake, mom, Rachel's eye are wide open...........my little mommy Hannah...gotta love her!

Making Baby Food...Scrubby Bear
O.K.-I did it! I tried making my own baby food and it was so so easy. And I'm telling you it is so much cheaper. I was just at Kroger and for two little containers of food it was $1.00. Compared to my "on sale" bag of frozen vegetables that each made 2 ice cube trays full (16 servings).
Fun, Fun.
Oh by the way Rachel had her first vegetable tonight. Carrots! She loved them and ate them so fast. I'm waiting for her to barf them back up. We will see.
Funny Hannah story: Today at the eye doctors Hannah was waiting patiently on the floor with a small pack of M&M's and one dropped on the floor. Well, I was trying to cocentrate on the doctor, my eyes, Rachel, etc and Hannah says "Mom, I dropped this on the floor can I eat it?" I said "Yes, Hannah just eat it!" She then looked at me shaking her head saying "Mom, you sure don't know what Scrubby Bear says about that do you? You are not supposed to eat stuff off the floor because it has germs on it" So my response "Then throw it away!" Gotta love my know it all Hannah.
Fun, Fun.

SAVE THE BUGS!
O.K. so today was hilarious and I can't wait to share this post with you who know Hannah so well.
Today when I picked Hannah up from school her teacher took me aside. She said "I have to tell you that we went for a walk today and all the kids were talking about killing and smashing bugs. They even used their hands to describe how they kill bugs with smashing and stomping movements." She said "I looked at Hannah's face and she looked shocked". Hannah then replied by saying "You are not suppose to kill bugs, God made them and they are good for the garden." The teacher said "I couldn't have said it better."
Gotta love bugs...well Hannah and Zoey do.

Wednesday Wisdom....(from the Bible)
O.K. so like I mentioned before my best friend Kate :) has decided to put on her website a verse a week. So, I decided I was up for this challenge also and I want to challenge everyone else. This will help me stay focused and share my favorite verses with you.
Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
All I have to say is some days it is easier than others to show these fruits. I heard someone say once that if you had accepted Christ then these things automatically will be shown through you but I'm not so sure I agree with that. Just because you are a Christian doesn't make you perfect nor does it make the day to day problems go away. I think this is a journey and that God works in our hearts to strenghten these areas with our circumstances. Just my thought.
Lord, help me to grow in all these areas and help me to teach them to my girls.

Meatloaf recipe- DELICIOUS
O.K. so I made Kate Gosselins(you know...my bestfriend) meatloaf last night and it was so delicious.
2 pds of ground beef (we use turkey meat)
2-3 eggs
1 cup each of chopped carrots, celery, onion and green peppers
1 1/2 - 2 cups of bread crumbs
2 tsp Italian seasoning
3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
1/4 - 1/2 cup ketcup
1 tsp garlic salt
Bake at 350 for 1 hour covered with foil and then 15 minutes with foil off. I made this and split it in half. Consider giving the other half to a neighbor or friend for a suprise dinner. You will always feel blessed when you give!
